Until a few years ago, Milan was known as the capital of Fashion and Design. However, since the success of Expo 2015, with food as the main topic, this changed. Roberto Rettani, president of the Fiera Milano that will host the TUTTO FOOD Fair. already said that 'Milan now has created the third 'F' of Italy's excellent products, after Fashion and (design) Furniture. This is confirmed by the recently announced Milano Food Week, taking place for 4 to 11 May 2017.
What to do in Milan during the event also known as Milano Food City? Here a short overview of the main events:
Two activities dedicated to foodlovers are planned for the 3rd (opening) and 6th of May. To launch the program, the Comune di Milano has foreseen an event open to all the citizens and visitors on Piazza XXV Aprile, in front of Eataly Smeraldo and just two minutes from Porta Garibaldi The square will host a sensorial event with artistic performances, concerts and video-installations dedicated to the best-practices related to nutrition and food culture. Three days later, on the 6th of May, citizens are invited to participate to a flash-mob, organising dinners with friends and neighbours in private courtyards, confirming the important role of food for social relations.
In the same days, from 4 to 7 May, at The Mall in the new Porta Nuova area, the 8th edition of TASTE MILANO will take place. This fair like events open to both professionals in the food scene and the public, brings together all the good chefs from Milan that offer tastings of their recipes, show cooking, wine tastings, cooking classes and so on.
For food professionals, I suggest the TUTTO FOOD fair, an international B2B event and exposition where innovations in the food and beverage sector will be presented in more than then different areas: dairy, meet, sweets, oil, health, ecc.
In the coming weeks and months, a more detailed program will be published. However, the Milano Food Week, already has confirmed to be a good reason to come to Milan and discover what the city has to offer.
