Design week – (Food) Design in Milan
From 17 to 22 April Milan hosts the Salone del Mobile and the well-known Fuorisalone which is the platform for (young) furniture designers to show themselves to the big audience. However, Milan wouldn’t be Milan if there is also some attention for food and food design. Below a quick overview of what to go and see and where to eat in Milan during the Design Week.
WE Factory presents, in collaboration with La Marzocco Café Fuori Salotto and BeHouse the Workplace & Coffee: The Pop-up Office by WE Factory. Two days in which they discuss the design and flavour of workspaces for creativity and wellbeing. One hint: food has an important role here! You find We Factory in Brera Design District.
Viaggator goloso and Iper
Many people look surprised when I explain them that people come all the way from The Netherlands to visit supermarkets in Milan. But when I tell you that Iper and ViaggatorGoloso (U2 Supermercato group) participate to the The Litta Variations / 4th movement in Palazzo Litta (with projects from amongst others Asif Khan) you might understand why these supermarkets can inspire my guests.
SURFACE invited the architect David Rockwell (Rockwell Group) and the graphic designer Susan Sellers (2x4) to design an american diner that during the MDW2018 'will offer a contemporary take on quintessentially American food and drink, and feature a conversation series and other programming; at night, the space will transform into a nightclub featuring performances and parties.'
No party without foodtrucks! That's the motto of the last few years. And so it goes for this years’ designweek in Milan. Wherever you are in town, in 5VIE and ZONA SANTAMBROGIO, in Lambrate Design District, in Brera Design District or in Isola Design District: you will find a place where to eat in Milan on one of the many food truck festivals of the Milan Design Week.
Creative Chef keeps coming back to Milan and especially to the Ventura Projects locations. This year you can find him in the FutureDome where he will present the creativerecords: 'ceramic plates in a recordsleeve with a song and a recipe by your favourite artist!' A project in collaboration with Autobahn Studio
